FY 2010/2011 General Furlough Information
All UA employees, regardless of funding source, will participate in the FY 2010/2011 furlough program, with the exception of the following:
- Employees on H-1B visa status,
- Employees providing direct patient care,
- Police and security officers,
- Postdoctoral scholars who serve under the conditions of Post Doctoral Service (UHAP Chapter 12, Conditions of Post Doctoral Service),
- Those employed at less than .50 FTE and/or who are working in positions that will end prior to 6 months (non-benefits eligible),
- Graduate teaching, research and outreach assistants and associates, and
- Student employees.
The amount of furlough is based on annualized salary level:
- Employees making $40,000 and below – not asked to take furlough
- Employees from $40,001 to $60,000 – 1 day (or 8 hours)
- Employees from $60,001 to $90,000 – 2 days (or 16 hours)
- Employees making $90,001 and above – 3 days (or 24 hours)
Furlough hours will be prorated for employees who work less than 1.0 FTE.
The annualized salary is the amount an employee would be paid if working full-time for a full year.
- For example, an employee working in a .5 FTE position receiving $25,000 per year has an annualized salary of $50,000. This employee would be required to take a half day (4 hours) of furlough time.
