    Welcome to the Center for Professional Development. We offer a variety of professional development courses designed specifically to enhance your skills and competencies. We invite you to explore our programs by clicking on the links below. Professional development courses are open to benefits-eligible employees, and are offered at various times throughout the year.

    Which program is right for you?

    Academic Leadership Institute  In partnership with the Office of the Provost, the Executive Office of the President, and Human Resources, the UA Academic Leadership Institute provides a year long professional development program for twenty-five faculty and campus leaders, including academic and administrative department heads, associate and assistant deans, and individuals identified as emerging leaders.  The program serves both to strengthen the skills of those who are already in leadership positions and to provide a venue for career development for those who are seeking opportunities to lead.

    Information Technology Leadership Academy  In partnership with the Office of the CIO and Human Resources, the UA Information Technology Leadership Academy, is a year-long professional development program for twenty-five information technology (IT) professionals identified as emerging leaders. The program serves to strengthen skills of current IT leaders including, improving communication, professional presence, networking, collaboration, security, culture, and a range of topics related to the University’s mission. It also provides a venue for career development for those who are seeking an opportunity to lead.

    Management in Action Program  The Management in Action Program (MAP) is a professional development opportunity to enhance managerial skills. This is a one-year program consisting of nine classes with focus on workforce planning and organizing, and performance management.

    Managing the UA Way  The Managing the UA Way orientation is designed for first-time managers or team leaders, new managers at the University, or those desiring a management "refresher" class. This one-day program is packed full of useful management fundamentals specific to managing at the University of Arizona.

    Supervisor Essential Series  The Supervisor Essential Series (SES) was developed in response to on-going demand for targeted, timely and job-related training. The SES targets specific and practical skills to allow supervisors to learn quickly and effectively, while spending very little time off the job.

    Professional Development Series  The Professional Development Series (PDS) offers a variety of professional development classes designed to enhance job skills and competencies.

    Professional Development on our Greater Phoenix Area campus  Sessions drawn from some of the above Programs are offered on a limited basis to benefits-eligible employees at the Phoenix campus.

    Request for Facilitation /Consulting Services  The Center for Professional Development offers departments the opportunity to host training for employees within their units, facilitated by Human Resources Consultants.

    Microsoft IT Academy  The Microsoft® IT Academy is a subscription-based membership program designed to help academic institutions offer students and faculty learning solutions for IT skills training and certification as well as technology essentials for professionals. This is a FREE service offered to current UA students, faculty and staff at all campus locations.
