Purpose of Classification:

Manages departmental research program for drug, behavioral, and device studies, including finances, operations, staffing, and regulatory and compliance issues. Administers accredited continuing education programming, including grand rounds, conferences, and special events.

Example of Duties:

  • Prepares, submits, and oversees post-award management and reporting of research grants, contracts, and subcontracts
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies and guidelines, including the Institutional Review Board, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, and conflict of interest policies
  • Hires, manages, and monitors performance of research and conference staff
  • Administers educational events, including securing accreditation, inviting speakers, advertising, selecting the venue, soliciting commercial and grant support, managing registrations, conducting evaluation, and final reporting
  • Trains investigators and staff on UA, federal, and sponsor policies
  • Coordinates efforts within the department and with other groups
  • Supervises staff

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with 3 to 5 years of directly comparable experience; OR master's degree with 1 to 3 years of directly comparable experience
