"Thanks for the Feedback: The Science and Art of Receiving Feedback Well" Book Discussion

When:
Friday, January 12, 2018 - 11:30am to 1:00pm
Location:
University Services Building, Room 214

We swim in an ocean of feedback. Bosses, colleagues, and customers all have “suggestions” for our performance. We know that feedback is essential for healthy relationships and professional development—but we dread it and often dismiss it.

That’s because receiving feedback sits at the junction of two conflicting human desires: wanting to learn and grow, and wanting to be accepted just as we are right now. Thanks for the Feedback is the first book to address this tension head on. It explains why getting feedback is so crucial yet so challenging, and offers a powerful framework to help us take on life’s blizzard of off-hand comments, annual evaluations, and unsolicited advice with curiosity and grace.

Turn evaluations, advice, criticisms, and coaching into productive listening and learning. Join facilitators David Magoon, Human Resources Senior Organizational Consultant, and Helena Rodrigues, Assistant Vice President of Human Resources, in a guided conversation regarding "Thanks for the Feedback" from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, January 12 in Room 214 of the University Services Building, 888 N. Euclid Ave, Tucson AZ  85721. Seating is limited.

This discussion is part of an ongoing series regarding SMART Conversations.
