Purpose of Classification:

Provides IT assistance and solutions for a college, department, or division, both directly and through management and supervision of the IT team. Coordinates IT projects with other campus IT departments/divisions, including University Information Technology Services. Prepares budget and maintains staff needed to keep IT up-to-date and functional.

Example of Duties:

  • Manages IT resources, including budget, personnel, and equipment, in accordance with approved levels of funding and allocation of resources
  • Reports on project status, state of department, resource needs and plans, and relevant issues and concerns
  • Ensures security of college, department, or division data and servers
  • Develops and implements new IT initiatives
  • Represents college, department, or division on intra- and interdepartmental committees
  • Coordinates and directs all IT user support services
  • Promotes and facilitates interaction with key users of all IT services, recommending and implementing changes in policy or procedure for efficiency and effectiveness
  • Supervises, directs, and mentors IT staff

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's degree with more than 8 years of directly comparable experience; OR bachelor's degree with 5 to 8 years of directly comparable experience; OR master's degree with 3 to 5 years of directly comparable experience; OR PhD/professional degree with 1 to 3 years of directly comparable experience
