Purpose of Classification:

Develops software for the Office of Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Safety. Analyses programming requirements, writes design documentation, implements designs in specific programming languages, tests and reviews code, and provides support and training.

Example of Duties:

  • Participates in analyzing user application programming requests and in designing, implementing, maintaining, and modifying application systems
  • Writes and maintains code, queries and reports, and program applications using current tools and languages
  • Uses modern coding practices and technologies such as object-oriented programming, relational databases, test-driven development, and secure coding methods
  • Conducts tests of application programs and quality assurance reviews
  • Compiles test and review results for inspection by others
  • Writes functional and technical documentation, including application interface and source code documentation
  • Responds to requests for user support and training on relevant applications and troubleshoots application problems

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with 1 to 3 years of directly comparable experience; OR master's degree with no prior work experience
