Office of Institutional Equity

Committed to Equity

Acting as neutral fact-finders, the Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) supports the University of Arizona's commitment to creating and maintaining a working and learning environment that is inclusive and free of discriminatory conduct as required by the University's Nondiscrimination and Anti-harassment Policy. OIE leads efforts to uphold this Policy and its goals for our community.

OIE promotes and upholds Nondiscrimination and Anti-harassment by:

  • Guiding employees in referring affected individuals to OIE;
  • Facilitating resolution of concerns through advising and providing guidance and support to parties and their supervisors;
  • Conducting formal investigations in situations in which alternative resolutions efforts are unsuccessful or inappropriate;
  • Partnering with administrators and supervisors to protect against retaliation; and
  • Providing general and targeted educational training programs to prevent discrimination and harassment.

Anyone who experiences or is aware of discriminatory conduct is urged to report the matter immediately for appropriate response.
Be a part of UA's mission to create and maintain a work and learning environment that is free of discriminatory conduct.

Anyone who experiences discriminatory or harassing conduct is urged to report the matter immediately for appropriate response.

If a student or employee indicates discrimination or harassment occurred, or you are otherwise aware of a member of our campus community being subjected to discrimination or harassment under the University Policy, you, as a UA employee, are obligated to:

  • Refer that person to OIE and share OIE's contact information.
  • Report the referral. Send a follow up email to that person, again referring them to OIE. Please "cc" OIE and attach relevant brochures.
  • Record your actions by saving the email.

The University’s policy strictly prohibits retaliation against an individual for reporting perceived discrimination or participating in a resulting investigation. For reporting and complaint options, click here.
