Helena Rodrigues
Helena A. Rodrigues, Ph.D., SHRM-SCP, is Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at the University of Arizona. As CHRO, she is responsible for leading the University's Division of Human Resources, which oversees all HR functions across the R1 (very high research activity) classified institution.
In her role, Helena operates on the foundation of building long-lasting relationships and spreading best practices. She believes that a strong university workforce – including staff, faculty and other personnel – is vital to achieving the University’s core organizational goals, and fulfilling its academic, research, health sciences and land-grant responsibilities.
As CHRO, Helena has overseen and supported the implementation of a new career architecture, which established a market-informed and equitable approach to compensation decisions, the recent addition of the University of Arizona Global Campus workforce, which helped build education opportunities for more people, and the ongoing centralization of HR functions, which will modernize processes to create a consistent experience across the institution.
Helena holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Providence College and master’s and doctoral degrees in political science from the University of Iowa.
