Master Difficult Workplace Conversations with LinkedIn Learning's AI Coaching

Have you ever been anxious about a challenging conversation you need to have? LinkedIn Learning, which benefits-eligible employees can access for free, offers a new feature to help you prepare for those conversations in a realistic, low-stakes way: Role Play with AI-powered Coaching.
With Role Play with AI-powered Coaching you interact with a customizable AI personality—by speaking or typing—just like you would in an actual conversation. The tool responds dynamically based on your input, helping you practice skills in real time.
You can choose from nine real-world workplace scenarios, such as:
- Giving feedback on prioritization to support time management
- Providing a colleague feedback on presentation skills
- Supporting a team member or colleague by addressing burnout
After each session, you’ll receive personalized feedback on your communication style, suggestions for improvement, and LinkedIn Learning content recommendations tailored to your growth areas.
HR invited frequent users of LinkedIn Learning to test the new tool. They found the experience and the feedback it provided eye-opening.
"The feedback and content recommendations I received were genuinely helpful. They offered me new perspectives I hadn't considered and gave me practical suggestions I could apply right away,” said Marissa Diaz, program coordinator, the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences.
“It felt like a conversation with purpose—one that encouraged me to think more deeply about how I communicate and how I can improve. I can see real value in using this tool regularly as a way to check in, refine my message and continue developing both personally and professionally."
Ratish Shrestha, web developer, Graduate College, echoed those sentiments, calling the experience “more like personal coaching.”
“The content recommendations seemed to match exactly what I needed, giving me insights into my communication style that I wouldn't have thought of on my own," said Shrestha.
"It gave me suggestions on where I can improve. I realized that changing some of the wording in our communication can have a meaningful impact and sound positive and motivating to others.
Both users said they would recommend the feature to colleagues.
Diaz added, "It's a great opportunity to reflect, receive meaningful feedback and grow. It's not just about evaluation; it's about learning through conversation."
“When practicing how to give meaningful feedback this innovative tool empowers employees to build confidence and sharpen their skills in a safe, supportive environment,” said Randle. “It also helps employees grow more comfortable, capable and connected in their professional journeys."
