Health Benefits

You can choose from multiple health plan options (medical, dental, vision, and flexible spending accounts), including coverage for domestic partners and their families. The University pays an average of 88% of the cost of medical premiums.

The University offers multiple plans to help you prepare for a financially secure retirement. You must enroll in one of the mandatory plans, to which the University matches contributions. You also can choose among voluntary supplemental plans.

The University provides $15,000 of term life insurance at no cost. You may be able to elect up to $1 million in additional life insurance. You also have short-term disability coverage options. Long-term disability coverage is provided as part of your retirement plan.

Educational Benefits (QTR/EAP/DPTP)

You and eligible family members may receive tuition reduction at UArizona, Arizona State University, or Northern Arizona University. Domestic partners and their children can receive tuition reduction at UArizona. This benefit includes undergraduate, graduate, in-person, and online courses.

Payroll and Compensation Tools Training

Eligibility You  are scheduled to work 20 hours per week (.50 FTE) or greater in a position that is expected to continue for six months or more.

You are scheduled to work 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE) for at least 90 days but less than 6 months or

Your schedule is reduced below 20 hours per week, but you averaged 30 hours per week over the previous 12 months.

Frequently Asked Questions about Limited Benefits

 

If you are employed at the University of Arizona within 30 days of separating from benefits-eligible employment at another Arizona public university or an Arizona state agency, your current benefits continue and you cannot make new elections. You may request reinstatement of your sick leave balance.

The University is pleased to offer a comprehensive package to postdoctoral scholars that includes all benefits except a mandatory retirement plan. Learn more about benefits options for postdoctoral scholars.
